The generalization that men are manly and ladies are ladylike isn't the truth of sex versus sex. Harking back to the nineteenth century ladies were not permitted whateve r else aside from a dress. Society can acknowledge this change in light of the impact of time and the intensity of ladies. In The Bird Cage, Louise Keeley (the senator’s spouse) makes an extraordinary case of how society just sees what it needs to see.
